About the Artists:

David Gibbs: Designer by trade, Watercolorist by hobby, Outdoor Adventurer by enthusiasm, Entrepreneur by education, Handyman by necessity, and Central Coast by birth. The truth is, I love everything a lot and thus put my time in everything a little. It’s a happy collage with one primary focus: Central Coast has my heart.

Amy McKay: is a painter who works primarily with acrylics on canvas or wood. Born and raised in Northern California, she now lives with her husband and two children in San Luis Obispo. She graduated from Cal Poly with a degree in Landscape Architecture and has been balancing a professional life in landscape design, painting and motherhood on the Central Coast for the last 21 years. Her work has been shown in a variety of solo and group exhibits in SLO County over the last 10 years, including two installations with the City of SLO’s Art Box project in the downtown area.

Matt Carver: As the son of third-generation dairy farmers in Oklahoma, RRM Marketing Coordinator Matt Carver felt quite moooved to be a part of the CowParade SLO County. Matt brings twenty years of experience with Holstein, Jersey, and Angus cattle, along with an udderly essential fifteen years of graphic design expertise to the project. It is Matt’s intention to milk this incredible opportunity for all that it is worth by contributing his creative time and energy.

Peggy Sonoda: Cow lover who lives in rural Cambria’s cattle country with her sculptor husband, Michael, a hound named Lucy and a bunch of chickens. An arts supporter, striving to be an arts activist who paints by numbers and loves being part of a great team effort.

About the Cow:

Our ‘Cowlifornia Republic’ bovine is a simple and joyful expression of California pride. The strength and independence of the grizzly bear has become an icon for Californians and our way of life. We’re a dynamic State, passionate about our diverse natural resources, our cultural and agricultural history, visual and performing arts and technological innovation. As only the second region in California to host Cow Parade, we felt it was appropriate and important that our cow represent the place we call home.
