ZOE VAN ZANTEN, PerthNow

WHILE she has had to deal with some demanding divas before, Kathryn Cizeika has never styled a cow — until now.

The Empire Rose designer was one of many WA artists commissioned to create their own bovine piece for CowParade Perth, one of the world’s biggest public art events.

CowParade Perth is Live!

From 31 October to 11 December, the City of Perth will host the world’s biggest public art event, CowParade Perth 2016. This not to be missed free event will feature 40 cows across various City locations. Click Here to visit the official event website.

Perth will join other major cities such as New York, Paris and Tokyo who have previously hosted CowParades across the globe. The cows arrived as blank canvases and have been painstakingly crafted, sculpted, painted and reconstructed by some of Western Australia’s most captivating artists and hottest fashion designers. These transformed cows will be exhibited for six weeks throughout City malls, parks, iconic buildings and precincts, with some auctioned at the 2016 Lexus Ball for Telethon, raising vital money to support child health research.

CowParade started in Chicago in 1999 and has grown to become the largest and most successful temporary public art event in the world. The blank cow sculptures remain the same from city to city. However, the local artists transforming the sculptures make each event unique. To date, over 250 million people have experienced the wonder of the CowParade with over $30 million raised worldwide for charitable organisations.
