Bucharest will not be the same after herds of decorated cows stampede through the city! Imagine grazing bovines in front of Casa Poporului, a lounging cow in the middle of Piata Charles de Gaulle, brightly painted cows lazily strolling through Cismigiu Park. Let loose the child in you, and, no matter your age, join us at the world’s largest public art event taking place for the first time in Eastern Europe!

How now brown cow?
Local and international artists will paint, sculpt, draw, smartly attire and re-engineer these placid creatures into forms never before seen. Bucharest will become one of only 25 cities that have hosted CowParades around the world. Between 1 June and 12 September 2005, we expect to see 100 bovine beauties on our streets and in our parks. With the enthusiastic support of Bucharest city officials and the newly-elected government, our colorful, creative and crafty creatures will charm their way into your hearts. We couldn’t have a CowParade without artists! Over 3,000 artists have loaned their imaginations and skills to CowParades over the last 5 years. Artists come in all shapes and sizes from the amateur to the professional, classical artistes to wanna-bes, painters and fashion designers, architects and engineers. There are no CVs required, no letters of reference, just a desire, a design and a dream. The motto of Special Olympics is globally known. But not in Romania. Special Olympics Romania, the official charity of CowParade Bucharest 2005, will benefit from proceeds raised at the cow auction that will occur in September, as well as from the exposure and the publicity of CowParade. These special athletes with intellectual disabilities enjoy the athletic training, the socialization and the team spirit created by this very special organization. 19 December 2004 – A cow moo-ves into the Marriott
Denise, the lead cow in the CowParade, visits the JW Marriott Grand Hotel in Bucharest. She will remain at the Marriott, living it up in 6-star quality service, until the end of CowParade Bucharest 2005 in September.

31 May 2005 – Gala Event to toast CowParade Bucharest 2005
We invite the artists, the sponsors, the City of Bucharest officials and all of the other very important people in CowParade Bucharest 2005 to a once-in-a-lifetime event. And the cows! We can’t forget the cows!

1 June 2005 – Official city-wide celebration
Welcome the cows to Bucharest atop the National Theater at Lapteria Enache and La Motor. This family-style event will take place on International Children’s Day, incorporating live entertainment, games, food and fun with the zany excitement generated by the arrival and overnight appearance of 100 cows around the city.

12 September 2005 – Cows go to auction in style
Come bid for your favorite bovine at the Nigel Kennedy Concert during the George Enescu Music Festival at the Caragiale Room of the National Theater.
We invite you, the Michelangelos, the Picassos, the Brancusi and the Christos to submit designs to create your own amazing masterpieces… using a three-dimensional fiberglass cow as your canvas. All cows come with an honorarium to thank the artists for their time and creative efforts. Go to www.cowparade.ro for a downloadable .pdf file to print important information and the cow designs.

Deadline for design submissions is 15 February 2005.
Artists will be notified only if their design has been chosen by a sponsor.

CowParade had over 300 individual media spots during CowParade London 2002. Not bad for a bunch of cows! Cow Care
And if a cow is loved too much or suffers from any illnesses, she will be whisked away to the Cow Hospital in a Cow-bulance where she will be lovingly cared for, to return quickly to her adoring public. The artists’ studio and Cow Hospital are open for the public and the media. Please visit our sick cows and wish them a speedy recovery! Wherefore art thou…
Uptown, Downtown, Ultra-Center, Underground. The Cows will be everywhere! Beginning 1 June 2005 through the middle of September 2005, locals and tourists alike will laugh, smile, point and find a new reason to roam the summer streets of Bucharest. On 12 September 2005, a number of the hand-decorated cows will go to auction. 75% of the proceeds will go to charities.
