About the Artist:

aqua_Lauren GoldenburgMy name is Lauren Goldenberg and I am a 2nd year Art and design major at Cal Poly, concentrating in Studio Art. I recently heard about the “CowParade” that is in the process of taking place right here in SLO, and knew I had to do whatever it takes to be a part of it. As a student it isn’t very often that I have the chance to create public works of art or commission a piece. I recently painted a 10’ x 20’ mural for the Air Pollution Control District of San Luis Obispo County. That project was my first really large scale piece and I learned a lot about professionalism as an artist such as working with a client, as well as time management skills and how to “attack”, if-you-will, a large, blank surface. This being said, I believe I am rather prepared and ready to paint this design, or possibly multiple, well before the deadline.

I believe being chosen as one of the many talented artists to partake in this project would be incredible opportunity for a studio artist like myself, to be represented amongst the vast sea of graphic designers out there.

I love showing the world that fine art is not dead!
I also love what this project stands for and hope to b involved! It would truly be an honor and a way I could utilize my skills to give back to a community that has already given so much to me.

Tell us a little bit about your cow….

This design is one of the several that I have submitted. I call this one, “Aquamoorine” and it was specifically designed with Crystal Springs Water Company in mind, as I heard they were interested in commissioning a water-themed cow. My design essentially is based on the recognizable markings of a black and white dairy cow, with a twist-realistic water droplets in place of the spots. By incorporating the company’s signature colors with my own artistic style, I hope to creatively draw attention to the value of water in our community as well as creating an interesting, public display of art. I believe being chosen as one of the many talented artists to partake in this project would be an incredible opportunity for a studio artist like myself, to be represented amongst the vast sea of graphic designers out there. Please consider me, local artist, student and resident of San Luis Obispo, to paint this cow. It would truly be an honor and a way I could utilize my skills to give back to a community that has already given so much to me.
